More Orphans Being Supported By The Ministry

We are now also working with Children's Heaven in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our contact person in Ethiopia is Hanna Fanta. The following pictures show some of the children we are supporting as of May 30, 2008:


Bethlehem Shewangizaw Keri

Bethlehem Shewangizaw is an 11 year-old girl and is a 5th grader. She lost her mother five years ago and has one sister. Her father does not live with them. Bethlehem and her 9 year-old sister live in a one room house by themselves which is close to her aunt's house.

Their aunt Fasika prepares their food and washes their clothes, but the children spend the night by themselves in a one room house. Fasika, their aunt is married and has her own family. Their father, Shewangizaw who lives outside Addis Ababa visits his children once in a while and supports their living by doing labor work.

Bethlehem's favorite subject is Science and English. Bethlehem gets good grades at school and when she grows up she wants to be a teacher.


Tigist Shewangizaw Keri

Tigist Shewangizaw is 9 years old and a 4th grader. Tigist is a younger sister of Bethlehem. She has lost her mother five years ago. Her father lives out side Addis Ababa and does not live with them. He visits his children once in a while and supports their living by doing labor work.

Tigist and her older sister, Bethlehem, live by themselves in a one room house supervised by their Aunt Fasika, who lives close to them.

Tigist's favorite subject is Maths and English. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up.



Genet Dagne Hunegnaw

Genet is a 13 year-old girl and is a 5th grader. Genet has lost both her parents and lives with her aunt, Shewaye. Her aunt has 5 children of her own and is a house wife. The family is supported by Sheway's husband who does a labor work. Shewaye's, health is not good.

Genet's favorite subject is Math and English. When she grows up she wants to be a doctor. She gets good grades at school. But her school necessities can not be fulfilled by her extended family, and most of the time she gets starved and goes to school without breakfast and school lunch.


Mekdelawit Selomon Gita

Mekdelawit is a 12 year-old and a 5th grader. She lost her father 3 years ago, and her mother's health is not good. She has one brother, Tensae Selomon, who is 7 years old and a 3rd grader. She lives with her mother Mulu G/Medehin. Her mother raises her children by serving tea to daily laborers at the construction site.

Mekdelawit says she gets starved most of the time. One of the days was when she comes to our office with her mother to register to be in our program. She had a sad face and when we asked her why she told us that she has not eaten for the whole day.

Mekdelawit's favorite subjects are English and Social Science. She is a member of the children's choir at her Church. When she grows up she wants to be a doctor


Rahel Adane Webetu

Rahel is 16 years old and a 9th grader. She has lost her father and lives with her mother, Yehwalashet, who is infected with HIV/AIDs, and her younger sister Alemzewed. Their mother supports her family and herself by doing labor work when her health is good enough. Rahel also does broidering to support their living. When Rahel's mother has nothing to feed her children, she takes them to a neighbor's house to feed them.

Rahel's favorite subject is Geography. She wants to be an artist when she grows up.


Alemzewed Adane Webetu

Alemzewed is the younger sister of Rahel Adane. She is 14 years old and a 7th grader. She lives with her mother, Yehewalashet, and her older sister in a one-room house. The children are being fed by neighbors when the times get tough.

Her favorite subjects are Chemistry and Physics. She likes to run, and when she grows up she wants to be an athlete.


Rahel Seifu Tefera

Rahel is a 6th grader. She has lost her father and lives with her sick mother Atsede and older sister Serkeadis.

Because of her illness, mother can not work and the family is supported by pension money of her father. Rahel get starved more often. Her school necessities are not also fulfilled.

During her spare time Rahel does broidering to support their living. Her favorite subject is Math and she wants to be a pilot when she grows up.


Rut Tadesse Hirpa

Rahel Seifu is 14 year-old girl and a 7th grader. She lost her father three years ago. She has two brothers, Samuel and Negest. She lives with her mother, who does labor work to support her family. The family not in a good condition.

Rut's favorite subject is Biology and Math. When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor.


Shewaye Demeke Ermelo

Shewaye is a 10 year-old girl and a 3rd grader. She lost her father two months ago and lives with her mother and two younger brothers. Her mother, Bezunesh, supports her family and her self by washing people's cloth and doing labor work of carrying stones. They live in a one room rented house.

Shewaye does a lot of housework at home, which affects her grades. She said she gets starved and her basic needs are not fulfilled. Her favorite subject is Math and English. When she grows up she wants to serve the Lord full time.


Tigest Besufekad Abebe

Tegist Besufekad is 13 years old and is a 4th grader. She lost her father when she was 3 years old. She has one sister and one brother. The children and their grandmother live with Meaza Temesgen, their mother, in a rented one room house.

Mother supports her three children and her mother by doing labor work. Tigest said that they get starved most of the time and there are many days that they go to school without either breakfast or a lunch box.

Tigest's favorite subject is English, and she would like to be a doctor when she grows up.
